Website linking is still recognised as one of the most important ways to get your online presence stamped throughout the Internet. It's a method that's stood the test of time, but it does need to be done properly. Because it is prone to falling foul of "black hat" techniques, which in short, are spamming techniques, you should undertake due diligence. Search around for credible worthwhile back linking sites, and methods that are highly relevant to your site. It's no good, and could greatly harm your site if you get involved with linking to sites whose content is not comparable to yours.
Here is an introduction to 3 ways that will help you to optimise your site for SEO with linking strategies:
1. Link exchanges. Get your site linked to quality similar sites, ones that are in the same niche as yours. There are two ways you can approach this; using relevant keywords, do an online search through the 'net and see what sites come up. When you see ones that appeal, check out their page ranking, and if favourable, contact the site owners. Many pages facilitate contacting them one way or another. Offer to add their site to a page in your website too.
2. Using your signature. Go into forums, chat rooms, discussion rooms, and similar sites, join up - for free - and get involved in the discussion. Become an active member and start to participate is discussions. As your contribute more and more, you'll be able to add you signature to your posts. Use your signature to encompass the advantages and benefits of visiting your site. Don't even think about trying to sell anything, or you'll be marched off the premises. Simply outline what help your site can offer, and include a link.
3. Directory submissions. Getting approved in a directory is heavy weight move for you, as the search engines favour these sites. Don't bother with the fee ones thought because they're considered Spam. On the other hand, if you pay for them, you will be doing your site an enormous favour. SE's love this latter approach and will both value and favour the sites that use it. So do yourself a favour, and go with the best!

How to Find Huge Numbers of Links to Help Your Search Engine Optimization Efforts
Every dominant search engine uses what are known as "Backlinks" as a huge part of their judgement of a site's rankings. Backlinks are, basically, a link from another website which points to your site and to make things easy, the more backlinks you can get the higher in the search engine results you will be.
Doesn't that sound like a snap? Find more backlinks and improve your rankings and traffic. You may easily pay thousands hiring a Toronto search engine optimization company to get the job done. Now comes the hard part for many which is how and where to find those links. You can get large amounts of backlinks in just a few easy ways so let's review them.
We all know that to the major search engines content is king. There are couple of reasons for this. For one your site has to have content for visitors to view and search engines crawl. Second other sites need content for the same reasons. These other sites are who you are going to zero in on. They need content so let them have it.
Write an article on a topic that is closely related to your site's theme. It needs to be no shorter than five hundred words but you can go as high as 1000 words. Inserting your site's keywords is good but only if it does not interrupt the flow of your article. At the end of the day what you are trying to do is to put together quality information.
Now you will be giving this article away for free, but with a stipulation. Submit it to an article directory such as Article Dashboard for free. An article directory serve two functions. They will distribute or give permission for others to download your content and posture it on their own site and they permit you to include a resource box at the bottom of your article. They post your content on the site but as well enable others to post that content on their own sites and more importantly give permission for the content creator to put a link back to their site in a section called the Resource Box.
Inside this resource box you are adding a brief bio about yourself. That's nice, however what you are really looking for is to add a link to your site. So every time another site posts your article they are also be posting your website's link.
Don't just add your article to one or two directories. Submit it to as many different places which will allow you to leverage your efforts. If you post your content to only twenty article directories you will have twenty backlinks to your site. This number can be amplified if every directory syndicates your article at least 5 times to 100 links pointing to your site. All this can be a great step forward for getting page one placement in niches like real estate. A little more work could be required, however, if you need a more comprehensive real estate search engine optimization strategy.
There are sites that can further increase your article's exposure by converting it into a podcast. To do this you can either record yourself reading your article or use a service like Odiogo.com that can convert the text into speech record your own reading of it but the simplest way is to use a free text to speech service such as Odiogo. These require that your article be put on a blog like WordPress or Blogger.com. This is easy and you can have a blog up and on-line in a few minutes.
Not only can these steps help to create a huge amount of backlinks with the least amount of work but your content will drive targeted visitors to your site and increase your search engine rankings. In a short period of time you can be one page one of the search engines in your niche.

What is Wolfram Alpha?
Since twitter has become such a great source of current event information, I have made checking trending topics part of my morning routine. I stumbled upon Wolfram|Alpha, and initially passed it off as another group of twiggs trying to promote some incoherent word, but after entering a Google search, I was astounded. In it's own words, "Wolfram|Alpha is the first step in an ambitious, long-term project to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable by anyone." You enter your question or calculation, and Wolfram|Alpha uses its built-in algorithms and growing collection of data to compute the answer.
* Wolfram|Alpha can tell you that there are 66,000 people in India who speak a language called Korwa
* Can tell you whether you are over or underweight, how many quarts of water you have in your body, and what your heart volume is in pints (although, I dont know why you would want to know this!)
* Can calculate how many days you have been alive, or any other mathematical formula you input
Fifty years ago, when computers were young, people assumed that they'd quickly be able to handle all these kinds of things. And that one would be able to ask a computer any factual question, and have it compute the answer. But it didn't work out that way. Computers have been able to do many remarkable and unexpected things. But not that.
I'd always thought, though, that eventually it should be possible. And a few years ago, I realized that I was finally in a position to try to do it.
- Stephen Wolfram
Okay, I know you're thinking:
1. Why would I need this useless knowledge?
2. Cant I just use Google to find the answer to practically everything? How is Wolfram|Alpha competitive?
3. Isn't this just like Cuil, or Cyc?
Answer:
Wolfram|Alpha is a resource that students will find invaluable for its ability to interpret and solve nearly any mathematical equation, as well as its ability to compile and deliver all information as it relates to a particular date. Enter your birthdate, for example, and not only will Wolfram|Alpha tell you about significant events that happened on that date, but also the time of sunrise and sunset on that particular day, and even what phase the moon was in! Enter a future date, and the search engine will tell you what anniversaries and significant events are scheduled for that date! Lets see Google do that! In defense of Google, W|A doesn't handle as wide a range of queries, but it handles far more than Cyc or Cuil. Also, W|A lacks deductive reasoning powers, unlike Google, meaning queries where
"Those where the query requires logically reasoning out a way to combine (logically or arithmetically combine) two or more pieces of information which the system can individually fetch for you. One example of this is: "How old was Obama when Mitterrand was elected president of France?" It can tell you demographic information about Obama, if you ask, and it can tell you information about Mitterrand (including his ruleStartDate), but doesn't make or execute the plan to calculate a person's age on a certain date given his birth date"
-Doug Lenat
Granted, W|A cant tell you what a gibbous moon is as soon as you enter it into the search engine like Google can, but the implications for this project could mean a paradigm shift in the way we access and use information. I have already started using it as my Google in absentia. Try it out and you will quickly be able to see its potential!

The Single Biggest Secret to Getting the Best Keywords
The reality is you can focus your search engine marketing around literally thousands of keywords for any market that you go into. That is why I want to show you exactly how to find the best keywords really fast!
Strategy #1:
Use the keywords that your site is already getting searches for. Meaning, start working aggressively to get traffic from the keywords that people are already finding you on. You can find these results in your log files.
It may sound simple but here is the secret - Google thinks your site is relevant to the keywords your already getting traffic on. So your job then is to exploit those keywords to a greater degree and get higher rankings on those keywords.
Strategy #2:
Focus on the keywords that you know directly relate to someone buying your product or service. So if you're in the dog training market, then don't try and get traffic from the term "dog". That is way to broad. You want to think about going after a term like "Dog training for obedience" or something like that.
The reason is very powerful - You only need a fraction of the traffic compared to the big keyword to make the exact same amount of money!
Why?
That long keyword is directly related to what your product or service is offering so it is way more targeted and you don't have to work as hard to sell the person on buying from you! Where as with the keyword "dog", your going to have to work harder cause you have no idea what they are looking for.

Internal Navigation of a Website
Don't have page rank for website internal pages?
If the internal pages in your website do not have Page Rank, this implies that these pages are not able to receive any vote from the home page. The fact is that PR 3 of the home page can pass PR 2 to ten sub pages if all sub pages are linked to home page in same the manner and amount. The exception lies in JavaScript and Flash based navigational structures which are not able to pass parameters (PR, Trust Rank) to the target pages.
Then where the real problem is?
The answer is internal navigation of your website.
If you are facing the same problem of low or non existence page rank, then one of the main factors where your website is lacking is its correct navigational structure. Most of the SEO businesses do not give too much importance to the navigational structure of a website and are so busy in off page optimization techniques.

The main factors to accomplish the internal navigation of a website are:
a. Category specific options presented to the users.
b. links used to create menus of items presented to the users.
To facilitate better navigational structure of a website, make the sequential arrangement of links according to Importance, Important links at the top. In case two or more links have the same relevance, keep them at the same level of link hierarchy. Make the most relevant pages accessible from all sections. Limit the navigational structure of the website to the main areas. To keep the results of searched query in a balanced format, Anchor text should be less competitive term with respect to the words targeted on the present page otherwise they may trigger anchor text related filters.
Image links are able to pass certain parameter to the target pages but less than Anchor text links. Alt tag of the image links is one of the factors for boosting the navigational structure of a website. Make proper use of H tags on the Webpages. Broadest possible description of the topic should be covered on the main page and description should go narrower with each addition in navigational structure.

SEO Best Practices - An Introduction
No matter how much you think you know, or what advice you choose to listen to, there are some very basic principles of search engine optimization that just cannot be ignored if you want real long term results. I won't lie to you - it is possible to get quick results - just don't expect those quick results to last too long. When the warm spring sunshine arrives even the most exquisite ice sculpture tends to disintegrate into an unrecognizable puddle. Those of us who do SEO don't necessarily thrive upon being the bearers of bad news, but hey, don't shoot the messenger. We're just telling it like it is - we don't make up this stuff, nor do we make up the rules. At best, we know how search engines rank pages, what they look for on a web page and what works - or doesn't work.
Search engine optimization is an ongoing, organic process. Search engines update their databases regularly. As well, they change their algorithms and continuously update their systems in order to improve the results they return back to their searchers. There are many factors that affect these rankings and optimizing these factors takes time.
The best way to get your URL listed on the top search engines is to make your URL as relevant as possible. All search engines index web pages based on information. The more information you provide about your products and services and the more relevant that information is to a search engine user, the better your search engine placement will be.
There are no shortcuts and there is no substitute for a solid search engine optimization strategy, which must include the following factors:
* Keyword rich content - This is the core of your site.
* Clean, simply navigated design - Both search engines and end users will thank you.
* Well-written source code - including title and meta tags, alt tags for images, and anchor tags for links.
* Patience and hard work - there is no magic formula, no #1 with a bullet, period.
* Be careful about the quick fix. If you receive an offer from a company promising you that #1 position on Google in a week or two, then run, don't walk. Their tactics almost certainly involve techniques known as "black hat SEO," designed to manipulate search engine rankings. Just as certainly, once Google becomes aware of these unethical practices, your website is very likely to be "sandboxed" and never seen again in the search results.
* Writing for the web has special considerations. Keep in mind that you are writing content for a dual audience when you write website content - both the end user and the search engines. If your searching audience cannot find you, then all your effort spent on that well crafted, mesmerizing copy is pretty much a waste of time.
These are just a few factors to keep in mind when dealing with SEO Best Practices.

Keyword Research - Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Keyword Strategies
Keyword Research is the foundation stone of any Search Engine Marketing campaign, be it for a Pay-Per-Click purpose or a Organic Search (SEO) purpose. The keyword strategies between the two differ slightly. We will discuss the SEO keyword research strategy in this article.
1. Begin with a Root List
A root list contains the simple basic words about your product or service. It could also be the proper name of your product or brand. Expand the list by including specific models and serial numbers.
2. What are the General Terms People Search
Wordtracker and Google AdWords Tool are 2 common free tools that help you begin your first round of keyword list expansion. The comprehensive search results may also reveal alternative ways of describing your product. This is useful because you may not always know how the general public searches for your product or service.
Google's Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) technology also advises on related words and key phrases of your targeted niche. If you are targeting the Dog niche, you would also include Canine, Puppy, and specific dog breeds as part of your article content.
3. Try Keyword Modifiers
Keyword Modifiers are words that you add to shape the demand around the keywords you are researching. They may eventually be your long tail keywords which you want to target as your web page's Title Tag. Or you may use these as text within the article body.
General modifiers like Guide, Review, Compare, Information, and Buy, segment the user intent in your Search Engine Optimization efforts.
Geo modifiers like including the City, State, or Region within the text, will indicate to the search engines that you many have a specific geographical market segment in mind.
4. Check Allintitle
Google's Search Engine has an operator called Allintitle. This allows you to check who in the Internet has put up webpages with your targeted keywords in the Title. The concept is that if an author has stated the keyword has his page's title, he is making a decided effort to talk about that as a topic - making him your potential competitor. The number of pages returned from the Allintitle search is an indicator of the number of competitors out there.
Keywords are ultimately, just words. As an example, if you were checking "Allintitle:dog training", a webpage title like "Running like a dog - training for cross-country" will also qualify in the "competitor" count. You still need to check the content of pages for true competition. Or conduct a long-tail keyphrase check.
The greatest challenge with SEO keyword harvesting is building baskets of related keywords and phrases. You want to avoid the older practices of keyword stuffing, but build article content with richer vocabulary and keywords. This is one of the more important and current On-Page SEO method today.
At the end of the above exercise, you will probably have a large keyword list. It will not be feasible to dump all these words into one article and still have it make sense to the reader. Instead, you would pick one or two phrases you wish to target (and entitled) and write around it. Your researched keywords will be your checklist to ensure that the article contains a breadth of vocabulary about the subject.
Keyword Research Pro is a powerful new "Single-Point" software for marketers researching keywords online. From a single screen, Keyword Research Pro will pull keyword data from major resources today, including Google, Wordtracker, Keyword Discovery and more. For each keyword, you will also see the search volumes, estimated bid prices and even the competitors' advertisements. Putting together your competitive keyword baskets has never been easier.
