Search Engine Optimisation - How You Can Optimise the Design of Your Website For the Search Engines

You'll put a lot of work and effort into your website, or be paying someone else to, so you need to be sure that either you, or you freelancer is furnishing it with the right content in the right context. You should also check that everything works as planned too. It's all too easy to upload fresh content, get distracted, and forget to re-you're your site again. Three things to consider for ensuring that the search engine spiders notice your site are link popularity, on site navigation, and lots of testing.

Make sure all your boxes are ticked; how you can optimise the design of your website for the search engines:

· Link popularity. The more the merrier; the more links you have that point from other sites to yours the better. These sites should as high quality as possible, carrying the best page ranking as possible. This will show your site in a credible light to the search engines. So this is something that's worthwhile working on, and actively searching for such sites. Do make sure you only associate with sites whose content is relative to our own.

· Make you site easy to navigate. Any site that's easy to navigate is going to get you further. Search engine spiders will follow text, so the more graphics, or non-text based content you have, the harder you make it for them to follow deeper into your site, thus missing important content. Try and link to other pages in your site; make it easy for the SE's . You can see on many websites that they employ a row of links, or live text, along the top or bottom of each page within the structure of their site.

· Test and test again. You can never do enough testing. Even a couple of times a week is good. Make sure everything works properly; no broken links, or malfunctions of opt-ins, that kind of thing. I usually test my opt-in by signing in my self and checking through the systems in the software that accommodates by list building facility too. Occasionally I've had to reload a site or some pages owing to a glitch in the system too, or if I upload fresh content. Check and check again!
