SE Ranking - An Introduction to 3 Ways You Can Optimise Your Site Rank With Linking Strategies

Website linking is still recognised as one of the most important ways to get your online presence stamped throughout the Internet. It's a method that's stood the test of time, but it does need to be done properly. Because it is prone to falling foul of "black hat" techniques, which in short, are spamming techniques, you should undertake due diligence. Search around for credible worthwhile back linking sites, and methods that are highly relevant to your site. It's no good, and could greatly harm your site if you get involved with linking to sites whose content is not comparable to yours.

Here is an introduction to 3 ways that will help you to optimise your site for SEO with linking strategies:

1. Link exchanges. Get your site linked to quality similar sites, ones that are in the same niche as yours. There are two ways you can approach this; using relevant keywords, do an online search through the 'net and see what sites come up. When you see ones that appeal, check out their page ranking, and if favourable, contact the site owners. Many pages facilitate contacting them one way or another. Offer to add their site to a page in your website too.

2. Using your signature. Go into forums, chat rooms, discussion rooms, and similar sites, join up - for free - and get involved in the discussion. Become an active member and start to participate is discussions. As your contribute more and more, you'll be able to add you signature to your posts. Use your signature to encompass the advantages and benefits of visiting your site. Don't even think about trying to sell anything, or you'll be marched off the premises. Simply outline what help your site can offer, and include a link.

3. Directory submissions. Getting approved in a directory is heavy weight move for you, as the search engines favour these sites. Don't bother with the fee ones thought because they're considered Spam. On the other hand, if you pay for them, you will be doing your site an enormous favour. SE's love this latter approach and will both value and favour the sites that use it. So do yourself a favour, and go with the best!

How to Find Huge Numbers of Links to Help Your Search Engine Optimization Efforts

Every dominant search engine uses what are known as "Backlinks" as a huge part of their judgement of a site's rankings. Backlinks are, basically, a link from another website which points to your site and to make things easy, the more backlinks you can get the higher in the search engine results you will be.

Doesn't that sound like a snap? Find more backlinks and improve your rankings and traffic. You may easily pay thousands hiring a Toronto search engine optimization company to get the job done. Now comes the hard part for many which is how and where to find those links. You can get large amounts of backlinks in just a few easy ways so let's review them.

We all know that to the major search engines content is king. There are couple of reasons for this. For one your site has to have content for visitors to view and search engines crawl. Second other sites need content for the same reasons. These other sites are who you are going to zero in on. They need content so let them have it.

Write an article on a topic that is closely related to your site's theme. It needs to be no shorter than five hundred words but you can go as high as 1000 words. Inserting your site's keywords is good but only if it does not interrupt the flow of your article. At the end of the day what you are trying to do is to put together quality information.

Now you will be giving this article away for free, but with a stipulation. Submit it to an article directory such as Article Dashboard for free. An article directory serve two functions. They will distribute or give permission for others to download your content and posture it on their own site and they permit you to include a resource box at the bottom of your article. They post your content on the site but as well enable others to post that content on their own sites and more importantly give permission for the content creator to put a link back to their site in a section called the Resource Box.

Inside this resource box you are adding a brief bio about yourself. That's nice, however what you are really looking for is to add a link to your site. So every time another site posts your article they are also be posting your website's link.

Don't just add your article to one or two directories. Submit it to as many different places which will allow you to leverage your efforts. If you post your content to only twenty article directories you will have twenty backlinks to your site. This number can be amplified if every directory syndicates your article at least 5 times to 100 links pointing to your site. All this can be a great step forward for getting page one placement in niches like real estate. A little more work could be required, however, if you need a more comprehensive real estate search engine optimization strategy.

There are sites that can further increase your article's exposure by converting it into a podcast. To do this you can either record yourself reading your article or use a service like Odiogo.com that can convert the text into speech record your own reading of it but the simplest way is to use a free text to speech service such as Odiogo. These require that your article be put on a blog like WordPress or Blogger.com. This is easy and you can have a blog up and on-line in a few minutes.

Not only can these steps help to create a huge amount of backlinks with the least amount of work but your content will drive targeted visitors to your site and increase your search engine rankings. In a short period of time you can be one page one of the search engines in your niche.

What is Wolfram Alpha?

Since twitter has become such a great source of current event information, I have made checking trending topics part of my morning routine. I stumbled upon Wolfram|Alpha, and initially passed it off as another group of twiggs trying to promote some incoherent word, but after entering a Google search, I was astounded. In it's own words, "Wolfram|Alpha is the first step in an ambitious, long-term project to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable by anyone." You enter your question or calculation, and Wolfram|Alpha uses its built-in algorithms and growing collection of data to compute the answer.

* Wolfram|Alpha can tell you that there are 66,000 people in India who speak a language called Korwa

* Can tell you whether you are over or underweight, how many quarts of water you have in your body, and what your heart volume is in pints (although, I dont know why you would want to know this!)

* Can calculate how many days you have been alive, or any other mathematical formula you input

Fifty years ago, when computers were young, people assumed that they'd quickly be able to handle all these kinds of things. And that one would be able to ask a computer any factual question, and have it compute the answer. But it didn't work out that way. Computers have been able to do many remarkable and unexpected things. But not that.
I'd always thought, though, that eventually it should be possible. And a few years ago, I realized that I was finally in a position to try to do it.

- Stephen Wolfram

Okay, I know you're thinking:

1. Why would I need this useless knowledge?

2. Cant I just use Google to find the answer to practically everything? How is Wolfram|Alpha competitive?

3. Isn't this just like Cuil, or Cyc?

Answer:

Wolfram|Alpha is a resource that students will find invaluable for its ability to interpret and solve nearly any mathematical equation, as well as its ability to compile and deliver all information as it relates to a particular date. Enter your birthdate, for example, and not only will Wolfram|Alpha tell you about significant events that happened on that date, but also the time of sunrise and sunset on that particular day, and even what phase the moon was in! Enter a future date, and the search engine will tell you what anniversaries and significant events are scheduled for that date! Lets see Google do that! In defense of Google, W|A doesn't handle as wide a range of queries, but it handles far more than Cyc or Cuil. Also, W|A lacks deductive reasoning powers, unlike Google, meaning queries where

"Those where the query requires logically reasoning out a way to combine (logically or arithmetically combine) two or more pieces of information which the system can individually fetch for you. One example of this is: "How old was Obama when Mitterrand was elected president of France?" It can tell you demographic information about Obama, if you ask, and it can tell you information about Mitterrand (including his ruleStartDate), but doesn't make or execute the plan to calculate a person's age on a certain date given his birth date"

-Doug Lenat

Granted, W|A cant tell you what a gibbous moon is as soon as you enter it into the search engine like Google can, but the implications for this project could mean a paradigm shift in the way we access and use information. I have already started using it as my Google in absentia. Try it out and you will quickly be able to see its potential!

The Single Biggest Secret to Getting the Best Keywords

The reality is you can focus your search engine marketing around literally thousands of keywords for any market that you go into. That is why I want to show you exactly how to find the best keywords really fast!

Strategy #1:

Use the keywords that your site is already getting searches for. Meaning, start working aggressively to get traffic from the keywords that people are already finding you on. You can find these results in your log files.

It may sound simple but here is the secret - Google thinks your site is relevant to the keywords your already getting traffic on. So your job then is to exploit those keywords to a greater degree and get higher rankings on those keywords.

Strategy #2:

Focus on the keywords that you know directly relate to someone buying your product or service. So if you're in the dog training market, then don't try and get traffic from the term "dog". That is way to broad. You want to think about going after a term like "Dog training for obedience" or something like that.

The reason is very powerful - You only need a fraction of the traffic compared to the big keyword to make the exact same amount of money!

Why?

That long keyword is directly related to what your product or service is offering so it is way more targeted and you don't have to work as hard to sell the person on buying from you! Where as with the keyword "dog", your going to have to work harder cause you have no idea what they are looking for.

Internal Navigation of a Website

Don't have page rank for website internal pages?

If the internal pages in your website do not have Page Rank, this implies that these pages are not able to receive any vote from the home page. The fact is that PR 3 of the home page can pass PR 2 to ten sub pages if all sub pages are linked to home page in same the manner and amount. The exception lies in JavaScript and Flash based navigational structures which are not able to pass parameters (PR, Trust Rank) to the target pages.
Then where the real problem is?

The answer is internal navigation of your website.

If you are facing the same problem of low or non existence page rank, then one of the main factors where your website is lacking is its correct navigational structure. Most of the SEO businesses do not give too much importance to the navigational structure of a website and are so busy in off page optimization techniques.

Internal navigation of Websites is as much as important as cross domain reference and actual content presented to a site.

The main factors to accomplish the internal navigation of a website are:
a. Category specific options presented to the users.
b. links used to create menus of items presented to the users.

To facilitate better navigational structure of a website, make the sequential arrangement of links according to Importance, Important links at the top. In case two or more links have the same relevance, keep them at the same level of link hierarchy. Make the most relevant pages accessible from all sections. Limit the navigational structure of the website to the main areas. To keep the results of searched query in a balanced format, Anchor text should be less competitive term with respect to the words targeted on the present page otherwise they may trigger anchor text related filters.

Image links are able to pass certain parameter to the target pages but less than Anchor text links. Alt tag of the image links is one of the factors for boosting the navigational structure of a website. Make proper use of H tags on the Webpages. Broadest possible description of the topic should be covered on the main page and description should go narrower with each addition in navigational structure.

Significant lower and non existent page rank for an important page may indicate the problem of using non standard technology.

SEO Best Practices - An Introduction

No matter how much you think you know, or what advice you choose to listen to, there are some very basic principles of search engine optimization that just cannot be ignored if you want real long term results. I won't lie to you - it is possible to get quick results - just don't expect those quick results to last too long. When the warm spring sunshine arrives even the most exquisite ice sculpture tends to disintegrate into an unrecognizable puddle. Those of us who do SEO don't necessarily thrive upon being the bearers of bad news, but hey, don't shoot the messenger. We're just telling it like it is - we don't make up this stuff, nor do we make up the rules. At best, we know how search engines rank pages, what they look for on a web page and what works - or doesn't work.

Search engine optimization is an ongoing, organic process. Search engines update their databases regularly. As well, they change their algorithms and continuously update their systems in order to improve the results they return back to their searchers. There are many factors that affect these rankings and optimizing these factors takes time.

The best way to get your URL listed on the top search engines is to make your URL as relevant as possible. All search engines index web pages based on information. The more information you provide about your products and services and the more relevant that information is to a search engine user, the better your search engine placement will be.

There are no shortcuts and there is no substitute for a solid search engine optimization strategy, which must include the following factors:

* Keyword rich content - This is the core of your site.
* Clean, simply navigated design - Both search engines and end users will thank you.
* Well-written source code - including title and meta tags, alt tags for images, and anchor tags for links.
* Patience and hard work - there is no magic formula, no #1 with a bullet, period.
* Be careful about the quick fix. If you receive an offer from a company promising you that #1 position on Google in a week or two, then run, don't walk. Their tactics almost certainly involve techniques known as "black hat SEO," designed to manipulate search engine rankings. Just as certainly, once Google becomes aware of these unethical practices, your website is very likely to be "sandboxed" and never seen again in the search results.
* Writing for the web has special considerations. Keep in mind that you are writing content for a dual audience when you write website content - both the end user and the search engines. If your searching audience cannot find you, then all your effort spent on that well crafted, mesmerizing copy is pretty much a waste of time.

These are just a few factors to keep in mind when dealing with SEO Best Practices.

Keyword Research - Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Keyword Strategies

Keyword Research is the foundation stone of any Search Engine Marketing campaign, be it for a Pay-Per-Click purpose or a Organic Search (SEO) purpose. The keyword strategies between the two differ slightly. We will discuss the SEO keyword research strategy in this article.

1. Begin with a Root List

A root list contains the simple basic words about your product or service. It could also be the proper name of your product or brand. Expand the list by including specific models and serial numbers.

2. What are the General Terms People Search

Wordtracker and Google AdWords Tool are 2 common free tools that help you begin your first round of keyword list expansion. The comprehensive search results may also reveal alternative ways of describing your product. This is useful because you may not always know how the general public searches for your product or service.

Google's Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) technology also advises on related words and key phrases of your targeted niche. If you are targeting the Dog niche, you would also include Canine, Puppy, and specific dog breeds as part of your article content.

3. Try Keyword Modifiers

Keyword Modifiers are words that you add to shape the demand around the keywords you are researching. They may eventually be your long tail keywords which you want to target as your web page's Title Tag. Or you may use these as text within the article body.

General modifiers like Guide, Review, Compare, Information, and Buy, segment the user intent in your Search Engine Optimization efforts.

Geo modifiers like including the City, State, or Region within the text, will indicate to the search engines that you many have a specific geographical market segment in mind.

4. Check Allintitle

Google's Search Engine has an operator called Allintitle. This allows you to check who in the Internet has put up webpages with your targeted keywords in the Title. The concept is that if an author has stated the keyword has his page's title, he is making a decided effort to talk about that as a topic - making him your potential competitor. The number of pages returned from the Allintitle search is an indicator of the number of competitors out there.

Keywords are ultimately, just words. As an example, if you were checking "Allintitle:dog training", a webpage title like "Running like a dog - training for cross-country" will also qualify in the "competitor" count. You still need to check the content of pages for true competition. Or conduct a long-tail keyphrase check.

The greatest challenge with SEO keyword harvesting is building baskets of related keywords and phrases. You want to avoid the older practices of keyword stuffing, but build article content with richer vocabulary and keywords. This is one of the more important and current On-Page SEO method today.

At the end of the above exercise, you will probably have a large keyword list. It will not be feasible to dump all these words into one article and still have it make sense to the reader. Instead, you would pick one or two phrases you wish to target (and entitled) and write around it. Your researched keywords will be your checklist to ensure that the article contains a breadth of vocabulary about the subject.

Keyword Research Pro is a powerful new "Single-Point" software for marketers researching keywords online. From a single screen, Keyword Research Pro will pull keyword data from major resources today, including Google, Wordtracker, Keyword Discovery and more. For each keyword, you will also see the search volumes, estimated bid prices and even the competitors' advertisements. Putting together your competitive keyword baskets has never been easier. Top Six SEO Mistakes

When you put up a website and decide to make money selling something from it; that is when you need to learn to optimize your website. This simply means making it friendly to the search engines so they will like you and come visit often, pushing your rank up higher and you will get more traffic. There are plenty of SEO mistakes that will made along the way.

It takes consistent work and a lot of effort to optimize your website and it can be time consuming. There are many people that come online and think if they do it they will immediately see the results and get a lot of sales. But it is not like that at all. Optimizing a website for search engines requires time.

Top SEO mistakes people make

SEO Mistake #1- Not using available guidelines

If I had to choose the biggest mistake that most people make (including myself) in regards to using SEO correctly, is that we do not know all the guidelines. Yes we get tips and keys and such but why not just go to the search engines that are doing the ranking? After all it is them that we are trying to please right?

If you want to know the rules and guidelines of SEO from the biggest search engines check out these links:

SEO Mistake #2 - Ignoring the use of Heading Tags

If you are writing a blog or a website post, you must learn to use the HTML tags that search engines look at. Inside the tags that you use make sure that you are using your keywords. The searching engine bots or spiders pay attention to these heading and will continue to you read your site if they are correct and present and it helps to build relevancy. Your content has to match your site name.

SEO Mistake #3 - Wrong use of keywords

This is a biggie for most people. It is easy to get wrong and to abuse. First off in your Meta tag you should be using your keywords in the title and the description. Your keywords should not be generic. Not everyone who types in the word computer wants to go to sites that have a computer business in Topeka Kansas. There is an art to keyword picking. The first thing you must do is hone your keyword down to a precise highly targeted keyword and that can mean multiple words, like; computer store in Topeka Kansas. There are a lot of free keyword tools out there find one that you like and use it. I use Wordtracker and traffictravis. You simply type in your keyword and they will show you the searches and possibly other terms that are near to it that can be searched. Make sure there are not a zillion competing pages and that there is some search volume and go from there.

SEO Mistake #4 - A little is good a lot is bad

One of the search engine optimizing techniques is to put your keyword in your article 1-4%. It is called density. However there are places that you can submit articles to that only allow 1% so don't do it to much. If you get up as high as 4% then it will look like you are spamming. For your website it is good to keep the writing natural and add the keywords where they should go.

SEO Mistake #5 - In too big of a hurry

SEO takes time. It has to happen with a natural progression. You must use a slow and constant effort to optimize your website. Some people want it all done and finished with, the money rolling in and voila. But it does not happen that way and doing things to quickly can also cause the search engines to penalize you. You build your links slow and steady and you get traffic slow and steady and the search engines spider your site more often.

SEO Mistake #6 - Forget there is offsite and onsite SEO

You need to use all the tools at your disposal in order to make the whole of SEO work for you. That means besides the on website SEO, you must also do offsite SEO. This means that you should; Write many articles and submit them to article sites for linking, visit forums, create blogs, and get into social sites, like Facebook and twitter. You need to do link exchanges and one way links. Links are one way to show your site is popular and the search engines like that.

Don't become overwhelmed in SEO, take it slow and easy and do a bit of it at a time. If you have put up a website then you are planning on being around awhile. Just realize that nothing happens in a day.

Search Engine Optimisation - Introducing 3 Methods For Getting Your Content Optimised For the SE's

The Internet has always expanded at a huge rate, but never so much as in the current era. And that includes the number of users who are venturing onto the Internet with the intention of building an online business. Your competition is increasing rapidly, and you need to stay ahead of the game. Search engine optimisation can help you enormously with this. Learn the strategies, and you'll be well placed to hold you own in this highly competitive environment.

3 methods for getting your content recognised for the SE's are thus:

1. Your page rank is influenced by your content. Focus on using the correct keywords in the relevant areas of any type of content you submit. Everything you write, and where you write it is counted towards your page ranking. Your ultimate aim is a page ranking of 10, but this is usually all but unachievable by most websites - except possibly the search engines. Don't confuse page rank with SE ranking, as they're not the same. You can rank for page ranking, and also SE ranking, so be aware.

2. Keyword tools. Use them wisely. There are several free tools for KW analysis, that'll do a good basic keyword search for you, and give you stats too. You shouldn't really need to buy one of these tools, as the free ones are quite adequate for most Internet marketers. But if you want to drill down deeper into you analysis, then you could buy software, or look at downloading subscription-based software.

3. Squidoo lenses. Squidoo has undergone a phase of growing up - from a personal platform from which friends could, and still can, chat and become known online, to a fully fledged site that business owner can take advantage of too. The lens can lend itself to the creation of an attractive label of image for your business. Along with this phase you can also bathe in the knowledge that the search engines find Squidoo attractive too.

Search Engine Optimisation - How You Can Optimise the Design of Your Website For the Search Engines

You'll put a lot of work and effort into your website, or be paying someone else to, so you need to be sure that either you, or you freelancer is furnishing it with the right content in the right context. You should also check that everything works as planned too. It's all too easy to upload fresh content, get distracted, and forget to re-you're your site again. Three things to consider for ensuring that the search engine spiders notice your site are link popularity, on site navigation, and lots of testing.

Make sure all your boxes are ticked; how you can optimise the design of your website for the search engines:

· Link popularity. The more the merrier; the more links you have that point from other sites to yours the better. These sites should as high quality as possible, carrying the best page ranking as possible. This will show your site in a credible light to the search engines. So this is something that's worthwhile working on, and actively searching for such sites. Do make sure you only associate with sites whose content is relative to our own.

· Make you site easy to navigate. Any site that's easy to navigate is going to get you further. Search engine spiders will follow text, so the more graphics, or non-text based content you have, the harder you make it for them to follow deeper into your site, thus missing important content. Try and link to other pages in your site; make it easy for the SE's . You can see on many websites that they employ a row of links, or live text, along the top or bottom of each page within the structure of their site.

· Test and test again. You can never do enough testing. Even a couple of times a week is good. Make sure everything works properly; no broken links, or malfunctions of opt-ins, that kind of thing. I usually test my opt-in by signing in my self and checking through the systems in the software that accommodates by list building facility too. Occasionally I've had to reload a site or some pages owing to a glitch in the system too, or if I upload fresh content. Check and check again!

Search Engine Optimization - How Off Page and on Page Optimization Works

Every website owner understands that search engine optimization is the best way to increase site traffic and change your search engine rank. This explains why there are millions of resources telling you how you can use SEO to your advantage. There are two ways you can apply search engine optimization to your website.

The first approach is called on-page optimization. This means that the content on the webpage you want to bring traffic to is optimized so as to show up higher in search engines and bring in traffic. This requires using keywords and excellent writing skills so you can get the most traffic.

Off-page optimization is when you build links to your webpage from another website. By clicking on these links, people are directed to your landing page. While this may sound simple, it's not. Since you are relying on other people to include your link on their page you may be in for a tough challenge.

For this, you need to make sure that your website is one that other sites want to be linked to, and will want to place links of on their web pages. This means you need to target only those websites that are visited by the kinds of people you want visiting your site, but you might want to stay away from asking the competition to place back-links since they definitely won't be ok with that. Also, the information on your website needs to be up to date, accurate, well written and worth linking to if you want anyone to link to your website.

The best ways you can apply both on and off page optimization is by hiring someone to do this for you. It is very simple to pay someone to write up to date and new content for your site, which will leave you free to do other things. You can also pay someone to create back-links, create marketing articles and in short take over your entire marketing plan. While this will end up costing you, it might actually be a good investment since if you hire someone who has a good reputation and knows what they are doing; you could end up with an exponential increase in traffic.

The important thing to know about off-page optimization is that you should not try and place thousand of links in the same week. By taking the slow and steady approach, you will be able to sustain the increase in traffic. It is also important to build well-rounded links. This is important since search engines give priority to well built links. It is also important to pick web pages that have been around for a long time when you are placing back-links. Search engines also offer priority to older websites and domain names than they do to new ones.

By making sure that you apply both on-page and off-page optimization to your website, you can increase your traffic exponentially in a few months and reap the benefits of this.

Good content and proper presentation to the engines is important.

The job of the search engine is to find the best sites to present to the person doing a search. What you need to do then is make sure your site is as good or better at providing the searcher with what they are looking for, and making sure the search engine can determine the quality of your site.

I can't tell you what to provide the searcher other than make sure it's what they are looking for. I can tell you how to present the information to the search engines in a way that they can determine the value and quality of your site.

High quality content and high quality inbound links

The search engines have basically two ways of determining your sites ranking. The first is the content of your site, and the second is the number and quality of the links to your site from other sites.

Step one would be to produce a high quality website with a lot of high quality useful content that people are searching for. However, it won't do you any good if the search engines can't figure out how good your site is. You have to present your content in a way that the search engines can use it to determine the quality of the site.

Let's take a look at how the search engines figure out what your site is about and how to assign a ranking to it. Having the best web site on the web won't do you any good if the search engines can't figure that out.

Head section of the web page

The head section of your web page is the first thing the engines see. In the head section of your site are some very important elements. The head section contains the meta tags including the title tag and the description tag.

Importance of the meta title tag

The title tag tells the search engine what your page is about. If your title is "John Lund Photography", the engines will know the page is about John Lund and photography. If you want to get a high listing when people search for "John Lund" then that is a good title. But John's site is a stock photo site and John wants to be ranked high for the keywords "stock photo".

John wants to use his site for two purposes; the first being to provide great high-quality stock photos to ad agency's and people searching for stock photos to use in advertising, and the second to sell advertising on his site.

Using wordtracker, a keyword research tool, we determined that "funny pictures" and "stock photos" would be his primary target keyword phrases.

Importance of the description tag.

The second meta tag in importance is the description tag. When the search engines display the results it often displays the contents of the description tags under the title. So people decide whether to visit your site by the title and the description. If you description doesn't inspire searchers to click through to your site, then getting the high ranking was a waste of time.

Make sure your description tag accurately reflects what the searcher will find when he gets to your page. Google and the other engines also use the description tag to help determine what your site is about.

Keyword tag... not so important

There is also a meta tag for keywords. Although the engines for the most part don't use it because of all the keyword stuffing abuse that has occurred, they may still check to see if it is being abused. Don't stuff a bunch of un-related keywords or repeat keywords. It won't help and could hurt. I generally use 5-8 keyword phrases in the keyword tag.

Body text

Body text is the next element the engines look at. If there is little or no body text, the engines won't be impressed. When the engine compares your site to your competitors sites, if you have a couple of paragraphs of information, and your competitor has a 800 word page, who do you think will look more important.

Put 500 to 800 words on a page so that the engines know there is content. Make sure you have proper grammar and perfect spelling. The engines are watching. A page with a bunch of miss-spelled words will not be viewed as a high-quality page. Also use headings with your keyword phrases worked in. Keywords in headings are generally given more weight than keywords in body text.

Don't stuff extra keywords into your text. Write for humans. The engines will give a lower weight to body text with too many keywords.

Photographs and alt image tags

Search engines can't determine what a photograph is about from looking at the photo. The only information available to the engines are the text near the image, the file name of the image, and the alt tag text for the image. So use a keyword or two in the photo file name, in the alt tag text, and nearby the image. Again, write for humans.

Make a sitemap

Make a sitemap. Sign up for Google webmaster tools. Google tells you exactly how to do it. That way if your navigation proves difficult for the spiders, the sitemap will make sure they can index all of your pages.

Incoming links to your site

Get links from other sites. The engines use the number and quality of links that point to your site as another way to gauge the importance of your site. Links from spammy and low quality sites will not do you much good. Links from related sites of high quality will do you a lot of good. If you have a high-quality site with information that people want, then other sites will link to you.

Article marketing to obtain one way inbound quality links

One good way to get links is to do some article marketing. Write some 500-800 word articles and submit them to the online article directories. You will get long-term quality links, and you get to choose the anchor text in the links.

Anchor and link text

The search engines look at the anchor text in the link, the text around the link, the link text, the page the link is on, and the site the link is on to determine the quality and topic of the link.

Quantity of content

Your site needs a lot of content. If the engines are comparing your site with others, and your site has 20 pages of great content, while the others have 50 or 100 pages of equally good content, which site do you think will be given a higher ranking? Yep, the bigger site will win.

You should probably shoot for at least 100 pages of related content. Use the various elements as they were designed for i.e. title tags, alt tags, description tag, and keyword tags. Make sure your grammar is proper and there are no miss-spelled words. Provide plenty of body text and use headings.

Keyword tools for keyword phrases
Use a keyword tool when composing keyword phrases because if you use keyword phrases that are not searched for then they won't help you get traffic.

Time and patience

It takes time for the engines to trust you. Brand new sites usually need a year or so before the engines really begin to trust your site, so patience is necessary. Early on you may get some traffic from long-tailed keyword phrases, but it will take time to rise to the top for the really popular search terms where you have lots of competition.

There you have it. Follow these instructions and in time your site will rise to the top of the search engine result pages.

Search Engine Optimization - How to Get Top Rankings in Google

How to get top rankings in Google? - This is the most frequent question asked in all SEO forums and discussion boards. The usual answer is "Do This" and "Do That" approach. But how to achieve it in real?

Here's a list of some simple tips that are part of Search Engine Optimization:

1. Directory Submission:

Submit the website URL to directories. There are a number of free directories that accept your website. The most popular is DMOZ. The approval time for DMOZ is very long. So submit the site and forget it. Find the niche directories and submit your site in it.

2. Article Writing:

Write unique articles and submit it to the authority article directories like EzineArticles. This will boost your SERPs like anything.

3. Reciprocal Link Exchange:

Some say that Google nullifies the effect of reciprocal link exchange. But most of the webmasters has observed that it definitely gives you an advantage in terms of Search Engine Optimization and boosts your rankings.

4. Buying Links:

This method has also become unpopular due to the massive link farms. Unless it is really worth to buy links, stay from this approach.

5. Press Releases:

You can advertise your site through Press Releases. They help you to index your site at a faster rate.

Whatever may be the approach for Search Engine Optimization, just remember that you should optimize the website for "moderately competitive keyword" and place it in anchor text. Get inbound links with the keyword in it. This is the success mantra of Search Engine Optimization. Here's an exclusive site on SEO Software tools.

Global Domains International - Top SEO Keyword Marketing

Are you new to internet marketing...then you may not have heard about; Global Domains International...or where to start...what to do, or how to do it..?

Most entry level marketers make this simple, yet critical mistake when they first start, myself included :)

I'm sure you have heard about the benefits of search engine optimization [SEO] and how SEO keywords can really help you to dominate Google, Yahoo and all the other search engines for free. Anyhow, let me tell you a little known SEO secret, and, it involves "Global Domains International" and some "Top SEO Keyword Marketing"...read on.

Well, when we first launch ourselves into internet marketing, we all have a tendency to base the name of our website aka "domain name" or "URL" around a company name or even our own name, hardly ever, do we consider the actual nature of our business.

Example; if your company was called "Joe Bl**gs Enterprises" and if you created a brand new website with that specific name prominently within the domain name. You would most likely have very little, or no website visitors. Especially, if you were in fact; selling "swimming pools".

Well why not...simply because, not many people are searching for "Joe Bl**gs Enterprises". Search engine marketing, is all about choosing the right keywords, and the web content to suit.

Just imagine, if you were to call your own website after the nature of your business let say "above ground swimming pools" picture the free [organic] traffic that you could get to your new website, from all the major search engines, simply because you had the exact same search term in your own website, or domain name...cool...top SEO keyword marketing, try it and see, your websites will soon become virtual cash systems?

But what's SEO keywords and "Global Domains International" got in common. Allow me to elaborate further!

Did you know...that there are also 3 golden rules for top SEO keyword marketing, and your own internet marketing success?

1) Traffic: currently 90% of all keywords have no traffic - That means you really need to do your Niche keyword research, and find a SEO keyword that people are actually searching for...you need to think like your customers, and imagine, or focus on what they are searching for. Then, use that SEO keyword within your website name.

2) Commercial viability: most keywords have little, or no commercial value - So even more research to help you find keywords, or search terms that "buyers" are actually searching for, not keywords/terms that website browsers are using. Its great to have heaps of visitors to your site...but better still, if they opt to buy something too.

3) Competition: and finally 90% of the top keywords are either too competitive, or that the best searched for SEO keywords are all gone...meaning, the website domains have already been registered.

Seems like a lot of hard work just to get visitors...I'm sure you've also visited a domain registration website too, and typed into any "Search For A Domain" box when looking to choose your new site name...and every time you input your favorite keyword choice it comes up "Taken" its so disappointing when that happens....I know the feeling.

So how to overcome all this? It seems as if all the best opportunities have all gone...no point...well fear not, there is a little known secret, a domain loophole, yet to be exploited by the masses...

It's called "Global Domains International" they are the exclusive distributors of .ws websites and .ws will soon become the NEW .com.

Global Domains International is a great, safe, and, low cost way to enter into the very lucrative world of internet marketing. And it will help entry level marketers get quickly and firmly established in their favorite Niche...

How...simple; by using Global Domains International and their .ws websites its top SEO keyword marketing...allow me to explain.

Look at some domain facts:

As of May 2009 the "Domain Count" for registered .com domains now stands at around 21,336,063 "wow that's a lot" I can hear you say..."no wonder I can't get the domain name I really want." Now here's the KICKER; Global Domains International .ws registered domains or websites now stands at approximately 253,029...I hear the penny drop, and the cogs are turning...

NOW just imagine the keyword possibilities available by joining Global Domains International [GDI] now you can get that website name that your always wanted, and, get access to all that free search engine traffic... mmm, top SEO keyword marketing, just like the professionals do, and for a fraction of the cost.

But wait Global Domains International...doesn't just provide website domain registrations. No it's a "TURNKEY" solution to all your marketing needs, ideal for entry level marketers, and here's another great bonus, you can even earn money from them too.

How Do I Get My Website Listed on Google?

Getting your website listed on Google takes times and effort. There is no denying that. There are certain bases that you should be covering when marketing your website online. For instance, your website's content must be interesting and informative.

People who are searching for your product or service will usually type in keyphrases as opposed to keywords. So try to get inside your prospect's mind and start thinking what they will be typing in to try to find your product. Google appears to favour older, more popular websites. Popularity is mainly determined by the number of links that are going to your website, number of internal links and how many people are finding you on Google.

I'm talking about organic listing here of course. There are other white hat (ethical) solutions to getting good search engine listings such as Pay Per Click but this is usually seen as a quick fix and is not a permanent internet marketing solution.

As far as getting organically listed on Google is concerned I recommend a long term view to search engine optimisation. There should be an initial planning stage, constant reviews and frequent effort. Many small businesses with websites look for a "do it all today and it will last forever approach" but this is, unfortunately, not the case.

Besides choosing appropriate keyphrases, there are other methods that can help you get your website listed on Google including:

• Finding out what your competitors are ranking well for

• Getting some backlinks (both internal and external)

• And getting some nice, clean website code

CMS Vs Static HTML For SEO

One of the first decisions any website creator needs to address is how to manage content. There are two general categories; static HTML, which is written in an editor like Dreamweaver (or even Notepad), and content management systems (CMS). Both methods have implications for design, maintenance and SEO, and have different advantages.

Static HTML

Static HTML is often the best choice for simple website requirements, an online presence really only serves to provide basic information about your business and you don't intend to change it frequently. Most casual users need to be careful though, since they are likely to use simple WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editing programs like Microsoft Frontpage. Many of these programs write very inefficient HTML. This makes them a poor choice from an SEO perspective.

If you are going to use static HTML, make sure to use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). CSS stores all of your formatting information (colors, font, etc) in a separate file. This makes pages easier to edit and more importantly, leaves only the most basic information, your content, on the HTML file itself. This makes the job of the search engine much easier, since your key terms are in greater evidence.

CMS

In contrast, content canagement systems (CMS) use templates and databases to automate a great deal of the web design process. This type of software is ideal when you have website with constantly changing content, like a store or a blog. The different CMS application vary greatly in terms of complexity and learning curve. This blog runs on Wordpress, which is very easy to use and to implement. My corporate site, runs on Drupal, which is a bit more complicated. Most of the best CMS packages available are free, which is another advantage.

From an SEO perspective, CMS has the drawback of making access to meta tags more difficult and creating long urls. This is usually easy to overcome by choosing the appropriate add-on modules to uses for your implementation.

For example, on my blog I use the All-In-One SEO Pack to help manage Wordpress.

Summary

The general trend in web design is toward CMS, but users with simple website needs should definitely consider using static HTML and CSS. If your needs are more sophisticated, CMS is definitely the way to go - although it is important to make sure that your site is SEO optimized. Most CMS implementations have large user forums where most questions can be addressed.

The Case of Flash Sites

Since I have started this siteblog, a couple of friends of mine have been asking me about the possibilities of optimizing Flash sites. While Flash sites are great to include sound, video, and pictures, flash files are too complex for search engine crawlers to understand, which makes it very difficult to index flash sites, as opposed to HTML pages that contain plain text. A site built entirely with Flash suffers a great disadvantage because it will lack page structure to organize the content, the internal linking, and its unique page titles. Also, you need to consider that as of 2008, search engines are mainly dependent on text to understand the meaning of pages. So if you have a flash site, the probability is that its content will be heavy on images and interactive features, and too light on text. Not great.

Nevertheless, It is not my aim here to undermine Flash sites. I actually find that Flash sites great to present complex content as they allow for more content on a page without disturbing the page design. They are great to present slide shows or movies to clearly explain a product. And also, certain industries like the arts and entertainment that have a real need for multimedia, find in flash technology the perfect solution to expose their works.

So what can be done if you have a flash site, but wish to be well ranked in search engines position results?

A simple thing you can start doing is input metadata to your flash content. That includes titles, descriptions and keywords for your content. Even though meta tags are not as important as they used to be, crawlers will still read them, which will help the indexation of your flash content in search results.

Another thing that can be considered is to create distinct HTML pages to present each Flash page. This way, when a visitor requests a page, they will see Flash, but crawlers will read the HTML version.

Finally, you can build up quality backlinks to your Flash site. Backlinks are great to underline site relevancy. And for competitive queries, Google's relevancy algorithms are all about linkage data. Take the case of La Maison du Chocolat, an entirely designed Flash site. But even though it is in Flash, when typing the keyword "chocolate", the most relevant keyword for a company dealing with chocolate, it ranks in Google's front page result. How? When performing a backlink check on this site, I identified 466 links targeting it, and most of the originating sites of the links where relevant with chocolate (meaning that their content was primarily about chocolate related keywords). So if you have a Flash site promoting lets says footwear, you want to get as many quality links originating from sites that have content talking about this subject.

If you can't bother to do all of the above, then you always have the paid advertising solution. Research and buy relevant keywords / expressions, and you'll get to the top of Google's front page search result.

So if your site is entirely Flash designed, you now know where to start to get those desired rankings to increase your visibility.

5 Highly Effective Link Building Strategies to Shoot Up Your Website Ranking on Google

The number of links pointing back to your website greatly affects your web pages rankings on search engines. Therefore, every successful SEO campaign will always focus on link building. The objective of link building is to increase the volume and quality of links pointing back to your website.

Now, let me share with you 5 highly effective link building strategies that I personally use to increase the rankings of my web pages on Google.

1. Article marketing. Article marketing is my favorite link building strategy. You can include 1 or 2 links to your website in the Author Resource Box of every article that you write. When your articles are accepted by article directories and published, you are scoring valuable back links to your website. Moreover, if other webmasters feel that your articles are good, they will republish your articles on their websites with the Author Resource Box intact. This further increases the number of back links to your site.

2. Directory submission. Submit your website to search engine friendly directories like DMOZ, Yahoo Directory, BOTW, etc. Most directories are free but some popular ones like Yahoo Directory and BOTW require a submission fee.

3. Social book marking. Submit your website to various popular social book marking sites and gain popular back links. But you need to make sure that the sites are do-follow. Also, try not to bookmark your home page. I suggest that you write some interesting articles about your industry and post them onto your website. Then book mark those article pages.

4. Creating profiles on web 2.0 or social networking sites. Some popular web 2.0 sites are do-follow and they usually have very high PR (PageRank). Register an account with them and include your website link on your profile page.

5. Forum and blog commenting. Find forums and blogs that are related to your industry and join the community. Contribute useful feedback and information to the community by creating new thread and replying to comments. Remember to include your website link in your comments. One thing you must note is that you should not spam the community with useless one-liner comment. Respect the people there and contribute something useful.

Link building is a continuous process and you should not stop building links once you see results. Consistent link building is the key to SEO success. So plan your link building schedule and build a few links every week for your website.

SEO - Stop Making These Mistakes If You Want Your Website to Rank High on Google

If you want your website to rank high on Google, you must stop making these mistakes:

1. No proper keyword research. Keyword research is the most important process of SEO. You need to spend time and effort to conduct a thorough keyword research. The purpose of keyword research is to identify the key phrases and words that your prospects will be searching for. You should not choose to optimize keywords that are too generic. Generic keywords are extremely competitive and it is very hard for you to achieve high rankings for them in a short period of time. If you target the wrong keywords, your SEO effort will go down to the drains.

2. Keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is considered an unethical technique of SEO. Keyword stuffing occurs when the web page is loaded with too many keywords in the META information and content. When search engines feel that you stuff too many keywords on your website, they will not award your web pages with high rankings. When you write your copy, you should always write for human, not search engines. Yes, it is important to place keywords in the content but don't overdo it.

3. Keywords are missing in important HTML tags. You need to place keywords in Title, Meta, H1 and ALT tags. Search engines look at these tags to determine what your web pages are about. So if there is no keyword to describe your web pages, it is every hard for you to rank them well. The Title tag is the most important tag. Many companies place only their company names in the Title of their websites - they are wasting the chance to rank well on search engines.

4. Stop building links once results are achieved. Link building is not a one-time project. It is a continuous process to keep your SEO campaign successful. Every day, there are new optimized websites that are competing search engine result positions with you. When you stop building links, you lose the competitive edge. So after you see some initial results, you should continue to build more links. Some effective link building strategies are article marketing, blog commenting, forum marketing, directory submission and social book marking.

Hope that after reading this article, you will not make these deadly SEO mistakes. SEO is the bed rock of internet marketing. If you do it good, you can definitely count on SEO to get you business.
